Welcome to blog #7

Hi everyone! We hope you’re all doing well. The development of our game, Towns of Yore, is going swimmingly (in our opinion). It’s amazing to see the progress we make each month. This month was no different, we have quite a bit to get through so let’s catch-up!

Eylander fun

Our cute Eylanders used to have some specific needs (stats), one of them being ‘fun’. They would increase their fun by doing leisure activities like building sandcastles or hanging out at the tavern. Working would deplete this stat slowly and if their fun was near zero, they would refuse to work.
We have now changed this system: Eylanders still want to do ‘fun’ things, but instead of it increasing on one of their personal stats, their gathered ‘fun’ points will go towards your island entertainment score.

Animation

We want our workstations to add life and movement to your island and town. This is why many of them have specialized animations and effects. The magic well has a twisting, smoking pillar in the middle, the woodcutter has a moving saw and the planter station has a conveyor belt carrying little saplings on it. We will post a compilation of these workstations on our socials soon, so keep an eye out!

The Eylanders who work at these workstations also need to be animated of course. So our animator has created a digging animation for Eylanders who are planting trees, a farming animation for those cultivating the land and one for a rocking chair when Eylanders have some time off work.

Salt of the earth

The newest workstations added to the game are... Drumroll pleaseeee…The farm and the pastures!
At the farm Eylanders can cultivate grain to turn into flour! The pasture is where these adorable chonky cows are taken care of and where milk can be gathered.

Home sweet home

Building houses will increase the maximum Eylander visitor capacity of your island, so it’s very practical but we also want it to be fun and a creative process! We want our players to have freedom in creating and shaping their town. This is why our developers are working on creating a new house building system. This system will make it easier to create custom house shapes or fill in awkward corners of your island. It still needs some brickwork and a paintjob, but here is an insight into the basics:

Thank you for having an interest in Towns of Yore

These blogs will be posted every month. The second blog will go more in depth about what our team has been tweaking, changing or adding to the game! We hope you will join us again.

It would really help us if you could wishlist the game: Click here
