Hi everyone! It’s been a while since we shared an update on our progress—thanks for your patience. We haven’t been sitting still, though! We’re excited to reveal our brand new website. It’s fresh, clear, and easy to navigate. There, you’ll find information about Towns of Yore, our blog posts, and how to get in touch with us. We hope you like it as much as we do!
And now, here’s a quick update on some of the other things we’ve been working on:
Not only has our website received a fresh new look, but we’ve also given the Towns of Yore logo and our Discord server icon a complete makeover! Everything feels more polished, vibrant, and in tune with the spirit of the game.
If you’d like to stay up to date with our development progress, get sneak peeks behind the scenes, or simply connect with fellow Towns of Yore enthusiasts, we’d love to have you in our community. Come join the conversation and be part of the adventure—click here to join our Discord server!
As Towns of Yore has evolved, the design and functionality of houses have gone through several iterations. With this latest update, we believe we've created something truly worth celebrating.Houses can now be built in various sizes, with one or two floors in height. You'll find two types of house blocks: those with doors (essential for each house structure) and those without. The doorless blocks can be connected to door-block houses to expand their capacity—without needing to worry about adding extra entrances that could get in the way.
Whether you want to build a charming street of cozy cottages or a high-capacity apartment complex, the choice is yours. Design the town that fits your vision best!
We've refined how you begin and progress through the game. Now, you'll choose your starting island, setting the stage for your adventure. As you advance, you'll unlock new islands—each with distinct areas rich in unique resources. Build bridges to connect to these floating lands, allowing your Eylanders to explore and thrive. Expanding into these new spaces opens up exciting opportunities to gather resources and grow your town.
Another major change is the way we now treat visiting Eylanders in the game. Previously, they were almost indistinguishable from resident Eylanders (those who have been assigned a house in your town), which caused some confusion. Additionally, you could assign visiting Eylanders to a workstation—but if they left (due to a lack of food or a place to sleep), they would unassign themselves without notifying you, halting production. Very frustrating.
So, here’s the change we made: visiting Eylanders are now a class of their own. They are NOMADS, harking back to the backstory of how these little fellas came to be on your island. A Nomad wears a distinctly different outfit from resident Eylanders. They randomly appear at your island’s dock with a little knapsack over their shoulder—and can leave at random, too. They cannot be assigned to workstations until you invite them to live on your island (by assigning them a place in a house). If they don’t have a home, they’ll stay at the camp or the inn.
Since they are Nomads, they’ve done some traveling. It’s possible that some who come to visit may carry special or unique items in their possession! So be a kind host and welcome them to your island—and maybe take a sneaky peek at their inventory.
